Abstract
In a laboratory incubation experiment, conducted with three alluvial acid soils (pH 4.1 to 4.8) of West Bengal under waterlogged condition, lime application caused a rapid increase in soil pH, a significant decrease in exchangeable Al and an increase in available N, P and Mo contents of all the three soils. The increase or decrease of the contents in most of the cases attained its highest values within 20 days of incubation at one fourth or one-half dose of lime application.
