Abstract

Researchers at the Texas Institute of Transportation are conducting studies to access the ways in which roadways do or do not accommodate cyclists. Determining factors are presence and/or width of bike facilities, vehicle traffic volumes and posted speed limits. The aim is to create bicycle suitability maps to help cyclists select safer routes.
