Abstract
A health Worker from Aboriginal Community Mental Health Unit explains his role as a trainee welfare officer at the Lismore Base Hospital and involvement with community mental health after approaching various government departments that provide welfare services. He would like to see more Aboriginal people employed and trained in the area of mental health and feels that Aboriginal people should be given with an opportunity to develop self-esteem and take part in the efforts for achievement and growth.
