Mandibular incisor-canine transposition; an interceptive treatment perspective

Mandibular lateral incisor-canine transposition is a rare developmental disturbance of tooth order characterized by positional interchange of the two teeth where mandibular lateral incisor shows distal ectopic eruption and the adjacent canine subsequently erupts mesial to it. Early diagnosis and interception of transposition can simplify the orthodontic correction. In this report, it has been described the management of developing mandibular lateral incisor and canine transposition. Nonextraction therapy was performed with timely interception and correction. Natural tooth order was attained and symmetric and functional Class I occlusion was achieved.
