Abstract

【Objective】 The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of main non-genetic factors on 9 traits in Chinese merino sheep(Xinjiang type) based on 9 942 tested records of dam.【Method】 The effect of main non-genetic factors(including the measuring year and group) was analyzed on covered wool trait, shearing trait, body condition score, breed grade and measuring weight by least squares means with SAS(8.1) program.【Result】 The results showed that the effect of measuring year and group was highly significant(P0.01) for capilli score, staple length, wool density score, wool fineness score, live weight after shearing, greasy weight, body condition score, breed score and measuring weight.【Conclusion】These results indicated that the measuring year and group can be used as fixed effects in models when predicting genetic parameters and estimating breeding value of Chinese merino sheep(Xinjiang type).
