Abstract

Evaluation of a focal pancreatic mass in a patient with chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a diagnostic challenge. To compare the diagnostic yield of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) for evaluating pancreatic-mass lesions in patients with or without CP, researchers in Alabama evaluated outcomes of 300 consecutive EUS-FNA procedures performed on 282 patients; 75 patients had CP by EUS criteria.
