Abstract

A new method for the characterisation of shielding gaskets is discussed. The method uses special sample holders, which can be inserted very easily in existing measuring cells for the determination of shielding values. A visual control of the mounting and compression of the gasket is possible and guarantees a correct measurement. The method is flexible in designing typical sample holders for specific applications of the gaskets. The influence of the mechanical design on the shielding behaviour of the gasket is demonstrated, by discussing the measurement results using different sample holders. A correlation is shown with classical gasket parameters. >
