Eighteen Phaseolus species were tested artificially for mungbean yellow mosaic, 12 species showed severe infection, one moderate infection, 2 showed mild infection and 2 species did not produce any symptoms. Grosses between P. calcaratus and cultivated mungbean varieties Jawahar-45 and PIMS-3 were successful resulting F1 hybrids.
