Abstract

The fungicides caused a significant reduction in mycelial growth, cellulolytic and pectolytic enzymes production of Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium oxysporum in vitro. Out of four fungicides tested, carbendazim proved to be most effective in reducing mycelial growth of R. solani (100%) at 100 ppm and 200 ppm followed by ridomil MZ-72WP (62.6±1.26), mass-M-45 (67.9±0.49) and vitavax (100%) at 200 ppm. Carbendazim and vitavax were highly fungitoxic and showed 100% inhibition in case of F. oxysporum at 100 ppm and 200 ppm concentrations. Similarly, carbendazim and mass-M-45 were found to be effective in reducing pectolytic and cellulolytic enzymes activity also. Per cent reduction in viscosity of cellulolytic enzyme in case of R. solani by carbendazim and mass-M-45 was 15.3± 0.27 and 12.4±0.50 after 60 min., respectively while it was 12.4±0.50 and 14.5±0.03 in case of F. oxysporum at 200 ppm. In case of poly galacturanose (PG), % reduction in viscosity in R. solani by carbendazim and mass-M-45 was 30±0 and 39±0.30 while it was 50±0 and 32.1±5.04 in case of F. oxysporum after 60 min. at 200 ppm. In case of R. solani, maximum pectin methyl galacturanose (PMG) activity was reduced at 200 ppm by carbendazim (28.5±0) and mass-M-45 (28.3±0.05) while in case of F. oxysporum, it was 38.8±0 and 37.4±5.89 at 200 ppm of carbendazim and mass-M-45, respectively after 60 min.
