Abstract
The investigations regarding elementary composition of humic acids indicated a variation in ash, carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen and methoxyl contents and CEC of humic acids obtained from upland and lowland surface soils. SiO2, Al2O3 and Fe2O3 have been found to be the main constituents of the ash of humic acids. Lowland soil humic acids have been found to be more humified than those of the corresponding upland soil indicating thereby the effect of topography or drainage. On the other hand, parent material does not indicate any remarkable effect on composition and properties of humic acids.
