Abstract
Due to the growth of data accumulation, NoSQL databases using non-relational database models are becoming more prevalent within industry. Students must be equipped with knowledge about these new techniques, and how they are affecting current database designs within industry. This panel will discuss the obstacles and benefits of introducing students to non-relational database models in conventional database courses. Central points of discussion will include, the impact of NoSQL databases on a traditional database curriculum, assessment of these curricular changes, and also how NoSQL databases can be used within industry to improve scalability.
