Abstract

The work is focused on a particular transport company - Fatra. The first half of the work is characterized the problems of road freight transport. It includes transport for hire or reward, legal transport regulations in international road transport (abbr. MKD), the distribution of the road freight transport technologies, and specification and usage of road freight vehicles. The practical part of the road transport is focused on transport costs reduction in concrete very frequent small-volume shipments delivered to the same destination. The second half concentrates on internal transportation within Fatra company premises, spatial layout of workplaces, including graphical representation of material flows, and the choice and calculation of the required number of forklifts, and further on, the characterization of handling units and devices by type and use. The practical part is focused on mapping the nternal transportation, the motion and usage of trucks, and a proposal for the optimization of it use.
