If no repentance is required, the guilty person is treated lightly, as if she was not adult. According to the Jewish tradition, there is no possibility of forgiving in the name of someone else. This tradition also insists that the person who was harmed must forgive when faced with a sincere request to forgive. All the difficulties connected to the process of penitence, forgiveness, and reconciliation become especially hard and intense when related to the mass murder of Jews during World War II.
