Abstract
Twelve crossbred (Osmanabadi x Beetal) adult, non-lactating goats were randomly divided into three equal groups and fed for maintenance on untreated i.e. control (T1), 3% urea (T2) and 1 % urea treated (T3) sorghum straw. The gain of Nas % of added urea-N was 45.17 and 78.44 in T2 and T3, respectively. The goats maintained their body weights in all groups. The digestibility of DM, CP, NFE and hemicellulose were significantly (P<0.05) higher in group T1 than in groups T2 and T3, though the intake of DM, DCP and TDN were almost similar in all lhe groupss Feeding of urea treated sorghum straw can save concentrate part of goat’s diet when fed as a sole feed.
