Abstract
Eight years old Early White Giant peach trees of uniform vigour were unpruned, light pruned, moderately pruned and severely pruned to investigate the effect of varying degrees of dormant pruning on fruiting and quality of fruit. Fruit yield was inversely related to dormant pruning intensity and was significantly most affected by severe pruning followed by moderate pruning. However, pruning severity influenced all aspects of fruit quality. Fruits from severely pruned trees had greater red colour, soluble solids, size and weight, and had lowest acidity as compared to other treatments.
