Abstract
Study on the fishery of Gosthani estuary, during 1993-'94 revealed that mullets, silver biddies, sand whitings and glass fishes were dominant in the catch. Most of the catch was represented by juveniles of marine fishes. Though it is a minor estuary of about 120 ha in area the constituent fishery forms the livelihood of nearly 100 families of fishermen living around and hence can be categorised as subsistence fishery
