Abstract

A field experiment was carried out at Horticultural Research Centre, Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology, Meerut (UP) during the Rabi season 2011–2012 to study the response of different doses of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield of Garlic. The experiment was laid out-in Randomized Block Design with eight treatments and three replication. The experiment consists of eight treatments viz. T1 (RDF 100 Kg N + 60 kg P2O5 + 100 kg K2O/ha), T2(40 kg N + 24 kg P2O5 + 40 kg K2O/ha + 10 tonnes V.C/ha), T3 (40 kg N + 24 kg P2O5 + 40 kg K2O + 15 tonnes VC/ha), T4 (60 kg N + 36 kg P2O5 + 60 kg K2O + 15 tonnes VC/ha), T5 (40 kg N + 24 kg P2O5 + 40 kg K2O + 30 tonnes FYM/ha), T6 (40 kg N + 24 kg P2O5 + 40 kg K2O + 40 tonnes FYM/ha), T7 (60 kg N + 36 kg P2O5 + 60 kg K2O + 40 tonnes FYM/ha) and T8 (Control). The results of present investigation indicated that the vegetative growth characters plant height (cm), diameter of stem (cm), number of leaves per plant, leaf length (cm), leaf width (cm) as well as yield contributing characters viz weight of bulb (g), diameter of bulb (cm), weight of 50 cloves (g), number of cloves per bulb and yield of bulb (q/ha) were found to be maximum in the application of treatment T4 (60 kg N + 36 kgP2O5 +60 kg K2O+ 15 tonnes VC/ha) as compared to control and other treatments.
