Abstract

The eggs of blue butterfly were round, disc-shaped, flattened and greenish in colour. The average length and breadth of eggs were 0.59 ′ 0.01 and 0.54 ′ 0.02 mm, respectively. The average incubation period was 3.52 ′ 0.68days, while the hatching percentage was 82.00. The larvae passed through four instars. The larval period was 11.23 ′ 1.61 days. The pupae were object type and dirty browny to blakish in colour having 7.67 ′ 1.32 days of pupal period. The adult butterfly was grey in colour. The male and female butterflies measured 11.45 ′ 1.16 and 11.80+0.86 mm in length and 27.58 ′ 0.91 and 30.60 ′ 1.20 mm in breadth, respectively. The sex ratio was 1:1.28 (Male: Female) preoviposition, oviposition and postoviposition period were 3.27 ′ 1.62, 3.13 ′ 1.35 and 1.87 ′ 0.94 days, respectively. The fecundity was 19.3 eggs per female. Longevity of male and female adults was 4.60 ′ 2.00 and 8.5 ′ 1.96 days, respectively.
