Abstract
Response of late cabbage to plant spacing (45 × 30, 45 × 45 and 45 × 60 cm) and graded doses of nitrogen (50, 100, 150 and 200 kg N/ha) and phosphorus (30, 60 and 90 kg P2O5/ha) was studied on a sandy-loam soil. The size of head improved with increased plant spacing. The maximum yield was recorded in the case of 45 × 60 cm spacing. Application of 200 kg N/ha outyielded all other N levels. Significantly higher volume, weight, number/m2 and index of head were also recorded with this level of N application. Phosphorus fertilization had no significant influence on biometric characters, though significant improvements in yield were observed at 90 kg compared to 30 kg P2O5/ha. The net returns and cost: benefit ratio were maximum at 45 × 60 cm spacing with the application of 200kg N and 90kg P2O5/ha.
