Abstract
Wilting and root rot of coriander was found during surveys made in commercial fields in different regions of Bulgaria. The aim of the study was to isolate and identify the causal agent, and to prove the pathogenicity on coriander. The fungus was identified as Macrophomina phaseolina on the basis of colony morphology, production of numerous microsclerotia throughout agar plates and pycnidium development on excised leaf discs and on water agar adjacent to the leaf tissue. Disease caused by M. phaseolina has not been reported previously on coriander in Bulgaria up to now.
