Abstract

Metra was formed in 1984 as an independent agency overseeing commuter rail operations in Chicago's six-county region. Systemwide, Metra runs 692 trains a day on 11 lines, and only one of those lines is used exclusively by Metra's commuter rail operation. These comments briefly describe Metra's new starts and the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency plan.
