Abstract
Twelve crossbred milch cows were divided into two equal groups. The DCP and TDN requirements of the cows were met with concentrate mixture, sorghum silage and berseem hay in group T1 (control) while 50% of protein requirement was substituted by berseem hay in group T2, to study its effect on milk yield and nutrient digestibility, DCP; and TDN content of ration in the two groups were 10.54, 9.24 and 63.57, 65.92%, respectively. DM intake (kg/100 kg live weight) in two groups were 3,76 and 3.96, respectively. There was no significant difference in the digestibility of nutrients cxcept ether extract. Milk yield in the two groups was comparable. Cost of milk production was found to be Ks. 4.15 and 2.67 per litre In group T1 and T2 respectively.
