Problems encountered by the California Department of Transportation in the process of acquiring data from the 1970-census Urban Transportation Planning Package (UTPP) are summarized. Although this report deals primarily with the urban area data needs, a brief description is included of problems encountered by the non-urban areas of California which also use census data for transportation planning.
