Abstract

This conference presentation provides a perspective on the transit-related aspects of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA). The discussion focuses on how the ISTEA has influenced the various federal funding programs administered by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA); provides a few examples of how these programs are being used to implement HOV and busway projects; and reviews the procedures that have been developed regarding the sharing of responsibilities between the FTA and the Federal Highway Administration.
