Abstract
Twenty four female growing buffalo calves divided in four groups of six each, were fed on concentrate feeds, varying in protein supplements viz. barley plus urea (T1)) groundnut cake (T2) uromalt-40 (T3) and ground nut cake and uromait-40 (T4) in equal parts for a period of 90 d. The daily DM intake and digestibility of DM, CP, NDF and ADF were eot affected by protein supplements. Serum NH3-N and Serum urea-N were significantly (P<0.05) higher in calves fed T1 diet than those of T2, T3 and T4 diets, however, there was no significant (P<0.05) difference among T2, T3 and T4 dlets. Body weight gain/d was significantly (P<0.05) higher in T3 and T4 diets fed animals than thoss of T1 and T2 diet fed animals.
