Abstract

The panel addresses the subject of IVHS (Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems). One panelist gives an overview of IVHS in terms of projected goals and accomplishments over the next couple of years in the United States and around the world. Another, from the state level viewpoint, describes what the consumer might expect from an IVHS system and what it is like trying to implement one. Another discusses what he believes IVHS means to freight movement, and comments on the importance of public-private partnerships in making it happen. The final panelist discusses some intermodal aspects of IVHS and its importance to mass transit.
