Abstract

A glasshouse pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of arbuscullar mycorrhiza fungi on growth (height, basal diameter, root weight and root volume), biomass (fresh and dry weight of root and shoot) and nutrient absorption (N, P and K in root and shoot) of Cercis griffithii For this purpose, we evaluated the effects of Glomus mosseae, G. intraradices and Gigaspora giganthea for 8 months under greenhouse conditions. The results showed that root colonization of seedlings via G. mosseae and G. intraradices were more than Gi. giganthea. Also, the height, fresh and dry weight of the roots and the shoots of seedlings inoculated with G. mosseae were higher than other funG. While, in terms of basal diameter, root length and root volume there were not significant differences between G. mosseae and G. intraradices, however they were more than the control treatment. On the other hand, fungi had different effects on nutrient absorption. In a way that, K uptake in root of seedlings inoculated with Gi. gigantea was significantly more than other ones. While, there were not significant differences in shoot potassium between treatments. Also, the arbuscular mycorrhiza fungi (AMF) increased P and N uptake in shoot organs, while there were not significant differences between treatments at P uptake. It can be concluded that between these fungi species, in terms of improved growth conditions, the best treatments were: G. mosseae> G. intraradices> Gi. giganthea.
