Abstract
Despite Australia's small population, it still suffers the same urban sprawl as other densely populated countries. Over the last decade in particular significant advances in urban stormwater planning and management have taken place; these advances are discussed. Future directions for stormwater planning and management are also discussed including the projected impact of computer technology and the increasing need to address social and environmental issues as well as the traditional issues of stormwater drainage and urban flood mitigation.
