Abstract

This paper reports the serial use of EFDC-Hydro, a three-dimensional hydrodynamic model, and of WASP 7.4, a dynamic water quality model, both maintained by USEPA. EFDC-Hydro was successfully calibrated for the observed water level, and WASP was calibrated using the monthly observed water quality data obtained from the above sources. It was found that the current water quality target for the weir section in Geum River could not be met on a monthly basis, although every other tributary of the area would meet their respective water quality targets as assigned by the Korean total maximum daily load (TMDL). The study showed that it is possible to carry out more precise modelling considering both the water movement and water kinetics via the combined EFDC and WASP.
