Abstract

During 1983–84, all the treatments of isoprcturon and rrmoxuron resulted in significantly superior control of wild oats than methabenzthiazuron. The performance cf isoproturon and mctoxuron was comparable with the wild oats specific herbicide i.e. diclofop at 1.0 kg/ha applied 40 days after sowing. During 1984–85, performance of isoproturon (0.50kg/ha) early post-emergence (wild oats in 1.5 to 2 leaf stage) and of nistoxuron 1.2 kg/ha after first irrigation (wild oats in 2.5 to 3 leaf stage) were found fo be at par with diclofop. These treatments were significantly supeiior to methabeczthiazuron (pre and early post-emergence) with respect to control of wild oats. Highest grain yield was recorded in early post-emergence applicatien of isoproturon 0.50 kg/ha (before first irrigation to the crop) and post-emergence application of metoxuron at 1.2 kg/ha (after first irrigation to the crop).
