Abstract
A field trial was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and economics of seven insecticides against arrnyworm (Mythimna separata) on paddy (Variety Saket–4). Results indicated that all the insecticidal sprays reduced the army-worm population significently over control. Spraying of Chlorpyriphos 0.03% proved to be the best followed by quinalphos and fenthion. Insecticidal treatments invariably yielded higher than the control and the highest yield was obtained, in case of chlorpyriphos followed by quinalphos and endosulfaa. Net return (in rupees) per hectare for various treatments revealed that maximum return (Rs. 1377–00) was obtained by chlorpyriphos application followed by quinalphos (Rs. 975-00) and endosulfan (Rs. 954-00). In other treatments the not profit ranged from Rs. 478-00 to 777-00 per hectare over control.
