Abstract
Eight strawberry cultivars were studied for flowering, fruiting and yield characteristics under subtropical conditions of Lucknow, U.P. Results revealed that cv. Seascap produced highest (4.736) number of flowers followed by Addie (4.031), Chandler (3.296), Confectura (2.962), Torrey (2.84) and Shasta (2.56). However, lowest (1.880) flower was observed in cv. Gorell. Cultivars like Seascap and Addie gave highest (5.176 and 4.720, respectively) number of fruit set, whereas cv. Gorella recorded lowest (1.346) fruit set. The fruit weight was recorded maximum 10.45 g, which was lowest in Confectura (3.76g). Fruit yield was maximum (147.02 g) in cv. Chandler and was followed by cv. Seascap (100.57g). The lowest fruit yield per plant (42.48g) was recorded in cv. Confectura. Observation recorded that fruit length and width was maximum (4.18 and 3.02 cm, respectively) in cultivar Chandler and was minimum (2. 36 and 1.92 cm, respectively) in cv Confectura. In Bio-chemical parameters the TSS and acidity was recorded highest (12.67 0 B and 0.77%), respectively in cv. Torrey and acidity was least in Confectura and Seascap (0. 53%) but TSS was least (9.73 0 B) in Confectura. The ascorbic acid was also highest (82 mg/100 g fresh fruit) in cv Torrey while it was minimum (62.00 mg/100g fresh fruit) in Seascap.
