Abstract
Field experiment was conducted during winter seasons of 1996–1997 and 1997–98 to assess the effect of doses and stages of application of sulfosulfuron on weeds and wheat yield. Results revealed that weed control efficacy of sulfosulfuron was lower at 20 g ha−1 than at higher doses. Efficacy on Phalaris minor was more when application was done at 30 days stage than application done at 45 days stage. No much differences were observed in weed density and weed dry weight due to sulfosulfuron at 25, 30 and 45 g ha−1, irrespective of stage of application. There was significant reduction in the grain yield of wheat due to sulfosulfuron at 20 g ha−1 when compared with other doses at both the stages of application. Non-significant variations in grain yield were observed at doses ranging from 25 to 45 g ha−1 of sulfosulfuron. Grain yields due to metoxuron and diclofopmethyl were significantly less than sulfosulfuron at 25, 30 and 45 g ha−1.
