Abstract
A microplot trial was carried out at IARI farm to study the effect of seed coating of pea wiih powdered neem products each @ 20% w/w and neem oil @ 5% v/w on soiilnhabiting plant parasittc nematodes. Maximum reductton of major nematodes, Meloidogyne incognita (55.0%) and Rotylenchulus reniformis (65.7%) over control was astained with neem seed kernel coating, which was followed by expeller grade neem cake and neem oil coating. Except for neem cake, number of free living nematodes was higher in other treatments as compared to control. Maximum free living nematodes were found in treatments where pea was coated wiih neem cake (solvent extracted) and neem seed coat powder (>20%). Increase in yield was maximum in plots where seeds were coated with seed kernnl (28.3%) followed by neem seed cake (expeller) (26.4%), neem seed powder (18.9%), neem oil (15.1%), neem seed coat (9.4%) and neem cake (solvent extracted) (9.4%) treatments.
