Abstract
Data concerning operating cost of bus and rail systems were collected from operating agencies and the American Transit Association. Operating cost models were prepared for individual rail rapid transit systems and bus systems. The use of these models in economic comparisons with highway and other transit alternatives is discussed and illustrated. Data deficiencies are discussed, and recommendations concerning accounting formats are made. /Author/
