Abstract
Natural refrigerants are the keys of the future demands on the eco-Friendly refrigerants. Among these refrigerants, hydrocarbons offer several advantages over the others Eco-Friendly refrigerants, due to its better thermophysical properties in the term of operating pressure, etc. This study tries to present the energetical performance of hydrocarbon refrigerants couples, e.g. R290/R170, R1270/R1150, based on analytical calculation of the operational condition in the cascade refrigeration system. The study also presents R22/R23 to represent current available non Eco-Friendly refrigerants. Variation of evaporating pressure and refrigeration capacity, -100~-70oC and 2~3kW respectively, are applied to investigate the characteristics of each refrigerants couples. The results shows that in every variation of evaporation temperature and refrigeration capacity, COP of R290/R170’s are higher than R1270/R1150 and R22/R23.
