Abstract
An effective traffic state evaluation method is very important to obtain the behaviors of road traffic system. In this paper, the traffic state is divided into six categories, and the traffic state evaluation is considered as a classification problem. Then, vehicle velocity is chosen to be the evaluation index from the point of traffic managers. Based on those, a novel method integrating the subjectivity of the velocity data and the objectivity of the traffic participants is proposed to evaluate the traffic state, and its effectiveness is verified with real traffic data experiments.
