Abstract

Knowledge is the first step in the adoption of any new innovation or technology. In the present study, the knowledge level of the farmers was studied with the help of structured interview schedule in six agroclimatic regions of Punjab. Knowledge test was prepared and pretesting was done on 24 non-responded dairy farmers and necessary modifications were done thereafter. A total of 180 dairy farmers (30 from each agroclimatic region) were selected randomly and data were collected by personally interviewing them. Maximum farmers were having medium knowledge level about deworming (60.56%), housing of animals (56.67%), computation and feeding of ration (57.22%) and bathing of animals (51.67%). Overall maximum farmers (66.67%) had medium knowledge level followed by high (23.89%) and low (9.44%) about the selected management practices. Overall mean knowledge score about all management practices was, 30.37 ± 9.26 out of 56 which was maximum (32.37±10.35) in Central plain region.
