Abstract
Hydroxocobalamin has been suggested as a replacement for cyanocobalamin as a vitamin B/sub 12/ compound for the treatment of pernicious anemia. Studies in patients with pernicious anemia given Co/sup 60/-labeled cyanocobalamin or Co/ sup 58/-labeled hydroxocobalamin, and followed for over 200 days by means of whole-body counting with a gamma spectrometer, showed that the two compounds have similar biologic half lives once absorption is completed.
