Technology in Developing Countries - a Military Perspective

During the last three decades, the Regular Army has been involved in numerous engineering projects in the developing countries in Australia's region. This experience provides an interesting opportunity to examine the impact of technology on societies where the traditional way of life has been generally free of technological impact. The use of the Royal Australian Engineers for overseas projects has evolved over this period rather than resulted from any long term plan.
