Relationship of Position of Fruits on the Tree with Different Maturity Indices of Kinnow Mandarin

Correlation analysis of different physico-chemical studies of Kinnow (King + Willowleaf mandarin) fruits carried out at Fruit Research Station, Bhatinda during 1981–82, indicated that fruit weight irrespective of the location of the fruits on the tree was positively associated with total soluble solids. Among various maturity indices studied, total soluble solids showed positive correlation with reducing and non-reducing sugars. However, the peel per cent was found to be negatively correlated with juice per cent and shape index of the fruits, whereas peel per cent vs. total soluble solids had a very high positive correlation (r = ±0.86) only in the fruits situated on the Western side of the tree. The remaining constituents of the fruits did not have any definite correlation with each other.
