Heavy metals content in manure of commercial animal farms in Fujian Province

Four types of animal manure samples,including cow manure,pig manure,duck manure and chicken manure were collected from commercial animal farms,and concentrations of heavy metals in the samples were analyzed.The results showed that Cu,Zn and As over limitations mainly existed in pig manure.In reference to the standard of GB 4284-84 for pollutants in sludges for agricultural use,93.56% and 91.94% of pig manure exceeded the limitations for Zn and Cu,respectively.However,in reference to the limitations of mature compost in Germany about 98.39% and 95.16% of pig manure exceeded the limitations for Zn and Cu,respectively.According to the standard of commercial organic fertilizer(NY 525-2002),about 38.17% of pig manure exceeded the limitations for As.In reference to the limitations of mature compost in Germany and NY 525-2002,about 50.00%,42.86%,90.00%,80.00% and 11.29%,7.14%,10.00%,10.00% of pig manure,cow manure, chicken manure and duck manure exceeded the limitation for Cd,respectively.In addition,there existed Cr,Pb over limitations in chicken manure and pig manure.
