Abstract
Anabas testudineus, Channa punctatus and Barbodes gonionotus were exposed to various concentrations of Dimecron 100 SCW. The median lethal concentration(LC50) values of Dimecron 100 SCW on Anabas testudineus, Channa punctatus and Barbodes gonionotus were 46.75, 22.95 and 375.26 ppm respectively for 96 hours of exposure. No remarkable behavioural abnormalities were found during the exposure. For histopathological studies Anabas testudineus, Channa punctatus and Barbodes gonionotus were exposed for 7 days to sub-lethal concentrations viz., 0.5 and 5.0 ppm of Dimecron 100 SCW. Hypertrophy, necrosis and pyknosis of hepatocytes,pyknosis and degenerative changes viz.necrosis of tubular and hematopoietic cells of kidney were the major histopathological effects.
