An analysis of the plant communities of the Zastron area (South Africa) is presented The Braun-Blanquet-technique, supplemented by TWINSPAN, was used for the phytosociologioal classification of the vegetation Twenty distinct plant communities were recognized and described. An hierarchical classification is presented and each vegetation unit is related to specific environmental characteristics. A DECORANA ordination is also presented, showing environmental gradients.
