Abstract
The ideas and debates about religion and secularism in Great Britain and other countries is discussed. The challenges faced by the Catholic Church in conveying ideas of life matters and moral issues to a largely secular, contemporary Australian society are presented. The need for the Church to find a voice of 'public reason' to carry on its mission is emphasised.
