Treatment of Cleft Palate in an Adult Patient-A Case Report

Cleft lip and palate is a common facial deformity which actual cause is unknown. The deformity involves upper lip, alveolar bone, soft palate and hard palate. Nowadays, it is rare to see untreated cleft palate in adults. Here we report a case of untreated cleft palate in a 43 year-old male. A wide palatal cleft was present with narrow soft tissue band on both sides. This patient was treated with V-Y push back flap, local rotational flap, and pharyngeal flap operation. The oral function and pronunciation of the patient were improved.
