Abstract
The experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2012–13 at Faizabad (Uttar Pradesh) to assess the response of different Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czernj and Coss.) varieties under varied plant geometries. Mustard ‘Narendra rye-8501’ and planting geometry of 45 cm x 10 cm were observed to be best variety and optimum plant geometry, respectively as these treatments were superior over corresponding treatments (check varieties and plant geometries). This was corroborated from the similar significantly higher values of plant height, primary and secondary branches plant-1, number of leaves plant-1, dry matter accumulation plant-1, yields and other quality components recorded under the said treatments (mustard ‘Narendra rye-8501’ and row spacing of 45 cm x 10 cm). Highest benefit: cost ratio was also recorded under the above treatment combination.
