Abstract

The efficacy of thiamethoxam as seed treatment and oxydemeton methyl as a foliar spray on soybean was evaluated against YMV transmitted by whitefly, Bemisia tabaci in different cvs. of soybean during kharif season in relation to weather variables. The peak population of whiteflies reached 5th week after sowing in seven varieties in treated plots. The whiteflies population reduced significantly in all the treated plots up to the maturity stage of the crop. The weather variables except sunshine hours had a positive correlation with whitefly population. The cvs., PK-416 and PK-1042 identified as resistant against YMV with a rating scale of 2–2.33 in untreated plots and about 1.66 in treated plots. The treated cv., Bragg yielded the least of 13.00q/ha whereas, PS-16 yielded maximum of 24.00q/ha.
