Abstract

ZigBee is an enabling technology providing low data rate, low battery consumption with low cost based on the standard IEEE 802.15.4. It is contributing to wireless personal area network and wireless sensor network. It is mainly used for various wireless sensor and wireless personal area network applications as low power consumption applications like home automation, industry control, remote control, medical assistance and other wireless sensor applications. This paper introduces the ZigBee, its specification, its layered architecture, topologies, types of devices, comparison of ZigBee with other standards, applications of ZigBee and future scope of ZigBee technology.
