Abstract
The Effect of compost made by cow manure and Israel grass on soil penetration resistance of Ultisol (Heri Junedi, Itang Ahmad Mahbub, Zurhalena). The aim of this research was to study the effect of compost made by cow manure and Israel grass on soil penetration resistance of Ultisol. The experiment was carried out at Experimental Field of Agricultural Faculty, University of Jambi, Mendalo Darat Jambi, from May to November 2012. The treatments were arranged in a randomly blocked design consisting of, control (no compost), 5 ton ha -1 compost, 10 ton ha -1 compost, 15 ton ha -1 compost, and 20 ton ha -1 compost. The result of study showed that compost can significantly decrease soil penetration resistance of Ultisol. The higher compost dosage, the lower soil penetration resistance. Keywords: c ompost, soil penetration resistance, Ultisol
